October 1, 2015, Norfolk, Nebraska – A special event will be held October 8, 2015 for Northeast Community College’s newest educational building.
The dedication and open house of the Applied Technology building will take place in front of the facility on the north end of Northeast’s campus on Thursday, October 8, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tours will be given immediately following a 5:00 p.m. dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside the building’s foyer.
Northeast’s $9.1 million, 66,613 square foot Applied Technology building is home to several programs including Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC). The state-of-the-art HVAC and Controls Technology labs were created through a partnership with NECC, the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3), and Trane. The partnership will provide curriculum to help close the skills gap and meet industry-required skill levels.
The new facility includes multipurpose classrooms, labs for hands-on-training and lab support areas including a fabrication/tool room. Labs are large enough to allow for adequate space for equipment so students may work in a safe environment. The building also includes expanded storage areas, faculty offices and a student lounge/study area to serve over 200 students.
The dedication and open house are open to the public.
